Marunouchi Office Groups (MOGs)—reflecting on the first half of 2021

TMP staff member Koichi Takahashi leading MOGs online

MOGs started at the beginning of 2020. But soon after that, with the outbreak of the Covid pandemic, we were forced to meet entirely online from May 2020. At that time, we all imagined that things would settle down by the end of the year (by the end of 2020), but to our surprise everything still remains uncertain even in the Autumn of 2021. However, it is interesting that the number of MOGs groups has been increasing, thanks to the support and prayers of many people, and the LORD’s guidance in these strange times. A significant characteristic of the year 2021 was the start of several new groups, based around particular companies in Marunouchi. It is exciting to see the network that God has given TMP, providing opportunities to meet and connect with Christians who work in or near the same company. One of the MOGs participants shared that, “I try to take every opportunity and tell people in my department that I am a Christian. So far, I haven’t had any response from non-Christians, or from Christians. I was even wondering if there were any other Christians in my company at all. But through a MOGs gathering, I found out that there were other Christians from my company, and I was very encouraged by meeting them”. There are probably many isolated believers who are working away thinking the same kind of thing.

Currently, most of the office groups meet once a month. It is unfortunate that the groups have found it difficult to strengthen interpersonal relationships, mostly because of the meetings being online rather than in person.  However, we are thankful that step-by-step we are moving forward, and we would appreciate your prayers that the LORD would continue to guide the MOGs ministry, and strengthen the relationships among believers, and to bring non-Christians along as well to hear the word of the LORD.
